<h2>Welcome to 6<sup>th</sup> Grade Social Studies! I am honored to have your child in class, and I am excited to work with you and your child throughout the year.  I know that we will have a successful, exciting, and productive year in Social Studies.  I look forward to being a part of the academic progress your child will make. </h2>
<h2><em><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Parent/Teacher Relationship</span></em><span style="text-decoration: underline;">:</span>  I believe that a good parent/teacher relationship is necessary for maximum school success.  You are able to communicate with me through email at <a href="mailto:kavram@sjfschool.net">kavram@sjfschool.net</a> or at school (773) 445-4737.  I update my blog daily; it contains important information about material we are covering in class, expectations from students, test study guides and dates, project due dates, and much more.  It can be found at <a href="http://kellyavram.edublogs.org/">http://kellyavram.edublogs.org</a>.  Please visit frequently for current information. </h2>
<h2><em><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Course Expectations and Goals for Social Studies</span></em><span style="text-decoration: underline;">:</span>  We will meet every day for 50 minutes.  Our Social Studies lessons are divided into units.  Each unit will take us about 4 to 6 weeks to complete.  Our Social Studies lessons are divided into units.  Each unit is focused around certain areas of the world.  This year will be challenging and there is so much to learn.  I expect your child to come to class prepared everyday and ready to learn.  Every day is a new dayJ   Our homework policy has been explained to your child, and is stated in detail within the parent/student handbook.  If your child does not have his/her homework for that day, the next day the homework should be turned into late work bin the next day for half credit.  No credit will be given for assignments more than 1 day late except in the case of extended illness.  Please also remind your child that it is his/her responsibility to turn work into the late work bin; the teacher will not ask students for late assignments.</h2>
<h2><em><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Class Supplies and Grading</span></em><span style="text-decoration: underline;">:</span>  The following is a list of supplies that will be needed for each class:</h2>
<h2>1 notebook, 1 folder, note cards, blue/black pens, pencil, red pen for correcting, loose leaf paper.</h2>
