I hope that all of you mothers had a wonderful Mother’s Day! As we are nearing the end of school, I can see the students beginning to become more laid back in their effort for school work. Please remind them that we still have a few weeks left of school and that they still need to give 110% effort into their school work and their studies. I am constantly reminding them of this in school. Here is our week at a glance, please always check your child’s assignment notebook for changes and/or updates.
Spelling: We are beginning our review units this week. This week we will cover Unit 6 and Unit 12. Spelling lists will be sent home with your child and can also be found on our Spellingcity.com page. For the test, I will chose 2 words from each unit. The words should not be any surprise to your child as we have already mastered them.
Reading: We will begin reading, “Floating Home” this week. This story will focus on plot. The comprehension test will be on Thursday this week (we do not have school on Friday). Please make sure that your child reads the story to you this week.
English: We are continuing our work on Adverbs. This week we will focus on adverbs telling the where and when. Students will also complete a few projects to help reinforce the concept of adverbs.
Math: We are still in Chapter 9 and learning to divide with remainders. There will be a short quiz on Thursday on this concept.
Chicago: We are continuing our study of Chicago for the next couple of weeks. If your child has not brought in his or her white t-shirt, can you please send one in with your child this week. We will be starting the t-shirt project next Monday.
